I am a Professor of the Political Science Department at the University of Denver, currently serving as the Fulbright Bicentennial Chair in American Studies at the University of Helsinki (2024-25). My primary academic interests are found at the intersection of American politics, law, & social movements, with a specific concentration in conservative movements and the law. A link to my CV can be found here.
Before coming to the University of Denver I served as an Assistant Professor at John Jay College, City University of New York for six years, and I earned my PhD in Jurisprudence & Social Policy from the University of California, Berkeley (Go Bears!).
Outside of work I can be found with my family around Denver and in the Rockies, or more recently, around Helsinki and the Nordic countries. Wherever I am, I can usually be found in ice hockey rinks and on soccer pitches more often than I can be found with a rod on rivers and lakes. In all of these places, though, I am likely listening to NPR (news and music) and taking more photos than my family would like.
