I am a Professor in the Political Science Department at the University of Denver, and the former Fulbright Bicentennial Chair in American Studies at the University of Helsinki (2024-25). My primary research and teaching interests are found at the intersection of American politics, law, & social movements, with a specific concentration in conservative movements and the law.

Before coming to the University of Denver I served as an Assistant Professor at John Jay College, City University of New York for six years, and I earned my PhD in Jurisprudence & Social Policy from the University of California, Berkeley (Go Bears!).

Outside of work I can be found with my family around Denver and in the Rockies, or around Helsinki and the Nordic countries. Wherever I am, I can usually be found at an ice hockey rink, on a bike, or less occasionally on the water with a fly rod and a camera.
