I am a Professor and the Chair of the Political Science Department at the University of Denver. My primary academic interests are found at the intersection of American politics, law, & social movements, with a specific concentration in conservative movements and the law. This link can be used to watch a brief video interview in which I discuss the wider context of my research.
Before coming to the University of Denver I served as an Assistant Professor at John Jay College, City University of New York for six years, and I earned my PhD in Jurisprudence & Social Policy from the University of California, Berkeley. Alternative descriptions of my teaching and research interests can be found here, on my faculty page or here, in this brief video.
Outside of work I can be found with my family around Denver, in the Rockies, or back in my native California…usually listening to NPR (news and music) and lamenting that I somehow now only have an iPhone camera, and not a “real” one.
